Georgia Babies Treated to Facilities Focused on Their Needs

Dekalb Medical was the first hospital in the state to be named Baby-Friendly and one of only two in Georgia that have received the formal designation, making them part of an elite club of just 227 total hospitals in the United States.

Baby-Friendly USA (BHUSA), the accrediting organization for the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), bestows this honor to a select few facilities worldwide, recognizing excellence in hospitals and birthing centers that provide the highest level of care and support for breastfeeding mothers and their babies.

Through the process of achieving this designation, DeKalb Medical was also awarded 5-STAR Hospital recognition by the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH).
