Sweet Candy Cafe Receives Grant from The Allured Fund for Confectionery Education

    LUMBERTON, NC, February 11, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sweet Candy Cafe of Lumberton, N.C., has been awarded The Allured Fund for Confectionery Education grant from the MC/Manufacturing Confectionery Publishing Company of Princeton, Wisconsin. The grant awarded by Michael Allured and the grant committee will enable Sweet Candy Cafe to participate in the National Confectioners Association Sweets & Snacks Expo on May 19-21, 2015 in Chicago, Illinois.

"This grant award is extremely special because I applied for it with my husband and co-founder of Sweet Candy Cafe, Timothy Long, in summer 2014," says Felicia Evans Long, founder of Sweet Candy Cafe. Evans Long's husband Tim passed away suddenly in August 2014. He worked for George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and actively participated in mission assignments in Guatemala and Guyana. Long enjoyed his healthcare career and working as a small business owner in Historic Downtown Lumberton.

Through her passion for confectionery and cherished sweet memories, Evans Long uses her husband's strength, contagious laugh, and zest for life as a motivation to continue the dreams of Sweet Candy Cafe the two shared in his honor. "I am thankful to the kindness of Michael Allured and the committee for selecting Sweet Candy Cafe as a grant recipient," says Evans Long.

Founded in 1921 by Earl and Prudence Allured, the MC/Manufacturing Confectionery Publishing Company is a third-generation family-owned business headquartered in Princeton, Wisconsin. Grants provided by The Allured Fund for Confectionery Education help fund educational and training opportunities to improve the success of candy makers.
