National Association of Distinguished Professionals Selects Laura Ramirez as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

Ms. Ramirez will be featured in the upcoming edition of the NADP Women of Distinction Magazine in 2014.

WEYMOUTH, MA, February 18, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Laura Ramirez, Academic Director at LiveLingua.com, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through the National Association of Distinguished Professionals. Ms. Ramirez will be featured in the upcoming edition of the NADP Women of Distinction Magazine in 2014.

Laura Ramirez began working in education in 1999, immediately following the completion of her Bachelor's Degree in Teaching English and Spanish as a Second Language from Universidad Autonoma de Morelos. She first taught as a Spanish and English teacher for several different private institutions and universities for nearly 10 years. She then founded and ran her own brick and mortar language school beginning in 2008 with her husband Ray. Later that year, they launched an online version of the school, which grew into what is now LiveLingua.com.

As academic director, Ms. Ramirez is responsible for day to day operations and staffing matters. She is also directly involved with educational product development. A typical day involves monitoring the progress of the teachers and students and assisting them when there is a need. No two days are the same since every teacher and student has unique needs. Her interaction with the teachers starts on day one and she is then directly involved with the interview and hiring process as well as following them throughout their trial period and regular evaluation once fully hired. She also monitors progress and issues that arise with students, handles product development, and beta-testing.

"I love to teach," Ms. Ramirez said. "I can't imagine a point in my life when I will not be involved in education one way or another. "Some of my fellow teachers used to speak about how they could not wait to retire. For me, retirement will look just like my work life does; I will still be teaching."

Live Lingua's plan is to become the best in the business. They are built around the idea of bringing together the most motivated students from around the world, as well as the best teachers. While most of their competition aspires for more and more students, Live Lingua actually aspires to remain relatively small, in internet terms, so that they can continue to provide personalized attention to each and every person involved. Live Lingua has offices in three countries, the US, Mexico, and the Philippines. Ms. Ramirez spends half the year in Boston, Massachusetts and the other half in Queretaro, Mexico, a colonial Mexican city of about two million people, with periodic trips to Cebu City, Philippines.

Ms. Ramirez has been a lifelong learner herself. She learned to speak English while on an exchange program to the US while she was in college. Now, she is actively learning French and plans to obtain her Master's and PhD in the next few years.
