Mr. Brophy has almost 40 years of professional experience, with the past seven as a partner and attorney with Goldberg Segalla. Over the course of his career, Mr. Brophy has developed specialties in mediation, and the defense of psychiatric and traditional medical malpractice cases. Mr. Brophy has an active mediation practice and formerly participated in a voluntary mediation program sponsored by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania for five years.
Early in life, the "Perry Mason" television series influenced Mr. Brophy to pursue a career in law. In addition to his role as an attorney, Mr. Brophy is a co-editor of the Medical Malpractice Law & Strategy section of Law Journal Newsletters. Furthermore, he authored the textbook, "Medical Malpractice Depositions" and is a frequent speaker at continued legal education seminars.
Mr. Brophy received a JD from Villanova University in 1976 and a Bachelor of Arts, with high honors, from SUNY Oneonta in 1973. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with the American Bar Association and the American Bar Foundation. In recognition of excellence in his field, Mr. Brophy has honored as an AV Preeminent Attorney through Martindale-Hubbell since 1996 and has also been recognized on the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list for personal injury defense from 2010 to 2014. Understanding the importance of giving back, Mr. Brophy contributes to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
