He has been a co-author of Louisiana Construction Law since 1979 and co-author of Louisiana Corporation Law since 1985, both of which has been used in Louisiana Law Schools.
With 50 years of service in the legal profession, Mr. Holliday brings expertise in several areas to the prestigious staff of Baringer, including corporate law, arbitration and contract mediation. Prior to joining Baringer, he served as counsel or co-counsel for several construction litigation cases that resulted in judgments in excess of $1 million. He also served as an attorney/chairperson on several medical review panels in Louisiana, which review medical malpractice cases in conjunction with a team of experienced physicians. Mr. Holliday regularly represents clients in personal injury and business litigation, including lawsuits with million dollar verdicts, and he is also skilled at orchestrating multimillion-dollar business deals between companies. Both of Mr. Holliday's books, "Construction Law in Louisiana from 1979" and "Corporate and Business Law since 1985" are frequently used by law schools in Louisiana.
Having undergone more than 100 hours of formal training in mediation, Mr. Holliday has served as a mediator for the Louisiana State Bar Association, the U.S. District Court's Alternative Dispute Program, and the American Arbitration Association. His experience also includes personal injury cases, one of the most significant being a lawsuit in which his client received a $1.5 million judgment. Mr. Holliday is qualified as an expert witness in state, federal and bankruptcy courts in areas including corporate governance and securities regulations.
Mr. Holliday received his JD from the Louisiana State University Law Center and a Bachelor of Science in finance and economics from Louisiana State University. He has been admitted to the state bars of Louisiana, Texas and Florida, the Baton Rouge Bar Association, as well as the District of Columbia and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has been honored by receptions of his 50th anniversary of practice by the Louisiana and Texas State Bar Associations.
Mr. Holliday is a graduate of the Paul M. Hebert Louisiana State University of Law. In May 2015, he will be attending a symbolic re-graduation ceremony, where he will be marching down the aisle of the graduates due to his 50 years as a practicing attorney. He is also being honored in Washington DC, where he will have his picture taken with other attorneys who have practiced for 50 years by the Supreme Court of the United States.
He continues to practice and mentor young lawyers. He was one of the founding members of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Dean Henry George McMahon American Inns of Court, founded in the 18th century in London, England for the betterment of the profession of the practice of law.
