Texas-Mexico Business Forum Sold Out!

    AUSTIN, TX, February 24, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Texas' economy is one of the largest in the U.S. thanks in large part to Mexico, the state's largest trading partner. To accelerate bi-regional business growth, the Asociacion de Empresarios Mexicanos (AEM) is holding its inaugural Texas-Mexico Business Forum on Feb. 26 at the State Capitol and Feb. 27 at UT Austin. "The magnitude of interest in the forum has been amazing," says Emmanuel Loo, president of AEM's Austin Chapter which is organizing the forum. "We continue to receive requests to attend, but we are capping the number at 300 so everyone has the chance to personally connect with presenters, all of whom have a track record of successfully doing business in Texas and Mexico."

Loo says that because Texas and Mexico are so close in proximity, companies and entrepreneurs in both regions have a competitive edge over other regions in being able to do businesses together, especially in the industries at the forefront of growth today: Energy, technology, automotive, higher education and healthcare.

"We will give conference-goers access to speakers and experts in the growth industries, and we expect Texas attendees to learn how to expand their businesses into Mexico and Mexico attendees to learn how to open doors in the U.S. for their products and services," Loo says. "Bottom line, that is the goal for the forum."

Loo explains that everyone is wondering how the privatization of PEMEX, Mexico's oil giant, will benefit both countries. "We are fortunate that we will have two legislators who actually helped write Mexico's new energy laws on hand to explain new policies," he says. "Additionally, a former director of PEMEX and his Texas counterpart, who are both retired and can speak openly, will provide their perspective on ideas for opportunities of collaboration."

Regarding technology, many are unaware that Mexico is the fourth largest provider of Information Technology services in the world. "With over half a million IT specialists in Mexico, many of the country's tech companies are at the vanguard," Loo says. "Mexico has moved well beyond maquiladoras that make car parts for automotive companies to innovative companies, such as Johnson & Johnson, that use high-tech maquiladoras to make stints, pacemakers and other healthcare products for worldwide consumers."

Innovation will also be a topic of discussion. The renown, Robert Metcalfe, co-inventor of the "Ethernet" and a pioneer in computer networking, will be a keynote speaker and share his ideas to foster faster innovation.
