Water Park of America Named WCCO Viewers' Choice for Best Waterpark in Minnesota

    BLOOMINGTON, MN, March 04, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- WCCO recently announced the winner of their Viewer's Choice For Best Waterpark In Minnesota poll. After asking numerous viewers from across Minnesota to pick the top waterpark in the state, Water Park of America in Bloomington, MN was voted the WCCO Viewers' Choice For Best Waterpark in Minnesota.

Natalie Nyhus, an anchor for WCCO-TV and the elite "Best of Minnesota" segments, visited Water Park of America after viewers cast their votes for the "Best Waterpark In Minnesota" award. She confirmed that there was no doubt why viewers cast their votes for this property by going on a few rides and speaking with the staff.

"Everything is themed off of Minnesota," said Blake Ford, the General Manager of Water Park of America. "So everything that we have here is named or designed based off of something part of Minnesota, so you get a true Minnesota experience when you come to the waterpark."

All 80,000 square feet of Water Park of America is completely indoors, allowing guests an 85 degree reprieve throughout the year. The park contains 17 amusement park-style rides, an attached Northern Lights Arcade for older children and teens and delicious on-site dining options. After all, many guests work up an appetite after riding many of the more exhilarating rides, like the Cascade Falls FlowRider. Adults and older teens at the park are thrilled at the opportunity to try their hand at surfing indoors on the Cascade Falls FlowRider.

"It is a signature attraction for the park," Ford explained. "Basically what you've got there is three motors pumping 60,000 gallons of water across that surface every minute."

Water Park of America is also home to the tallest waterslide in the country. Visitors looking for an adrenaline rush can brave the Eagle's Nest slide, which winds in and out of the building, ultimately landing in one of the many indoor pools. Those looking for a slower pace can relax in the St. Croix Lazy River, Nyhus pointed out.

Ultimately, Nyhus found that the Water Park of America is all about providing family fun. It attracts families from across Minnesota and even out of state for an extended stay. It's no wonder that the park attracts over 300.000 annual guests.

"It's very nice," commented an unnamed mother of four. "Our options are limited with little kids, so this is really nice and fun."

After experiencing everything that Water Park of America had to offer, Nyhus confirmed that being named the Best Waterpark in Minnesota was a fitting title. Before she left in search of the next "Best of Minnesota" news piece, she asked Ford why he believed Water Park of America was awarded the WCCO Viewers' Choice For Best Waterpark in Minnesota.
