Mr. Morgan received a North Carolina Doctor of Juris Prudence from the Cumberland School of Law in 1969, and is now regarded as one of the most active and frequently-honored citizen benefactors and leaders in North Carolina. Mr. Morgan has been active in his community since graduating from law school including serving in the North Carolina House of Representatives from 1977 to 1983. Mr. Morgan has served as Chairman or President of more than 75 organizations locally, regionally and statewide. On Columbus Day 2014, Congressman Howard Coble honored Mr. Morgan and his wife, Ann for their Outstanding & Individual Community Service by flying the American Flag over the White House. Among his many honors are being named an AV Preeminent Attorney, receiving the Governor's highest civilian award, Order of Long Leaf Pine from Governor Holhouser and Governor Hunt, High Point Enterprise Citizen of the Year Award in 1991, the North Carolina Bar Association honored him in 1999 with the Centennial Award and again in 2006 with the I. Beverly Lake Public Service Award. Recognized as one of the Triad's Most Influential People since beginning in 2005. Mr. Morgan has received Alumni of the Year recognitions through Guilford College in 2004 and Cumberland School of Law in 2008.
Recently inducted into Worldwide Registry, Mr. Morgan also maintains affiliation with the High Point Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Association, North Carolina Trial Lawyers Association and ABA. Mr. Morgan served as the president of the 18th Judicial District from 1995 to 1996, and as the president of the High Point Bar Association from 1989 to 1990, and the North Carolina Council of Bar Presidents from 1999 to 2000.
