Adrienne Forstner-Barthell, MD, FACS, FASCRS Brings Innovative Approach to Resection of Rectal Cancer

    GLENDALE, AZ, March 06, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Arizona Associate Surgeons MD Founder Adrienne Forstner-Barthell, MD, FACS, FASCRS, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in intestinal surgery.

For nearly a decade, Dr. Forstner-Barthell has been revolutionizing the path to wellness through the treatment of certain types of cancer. With a varied background in colon and rectal surgery, Dr. Forstner-Barthell performs screening tests and treats all forms of benign colon and anorectal disease¬--including anal pain, diverticulitis, hemorrhoids, fissure, fistulas, fecal incontinence, rectocele, rectal prolapse and constipation. She checks for the presence of colorectal cancer or colorectal polyps, through the means of screening colonoscopies, and treats symptomatic patients. Her diversified background in the field, with clinical interests and expertise in rectal surgery and rectal cancer, colonoscopies, colon cancer, hemorrhoids, anal rectal disease, fissure, diverticulitis, and the treatment of colon and rectal and anal cancer via a laparoscopic or minimally invasive surgical approach has allowed her to help a number of patients by offering modem and comprehensive approaches to cancer treatment.

Dr. Forstner-Barthell has also taken up progressive approaches to issues such as fecal incontinence with Solesta and the sacral nerve stimulator, and rectal cancer, pioneering the use of Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery in Arizona. Dr. Forstner-Barthell has always wanted to help people and she's been fascinated with nutrition since she was a small child. Her interest in a multidiscipinlary approach combining technical/surgical and alternative health and nutritional approaches to global health has led her down a long and illustrious path in the medical arena.

Dr. Forstner-Barthell currently chairs the Cancer Committee and moderates the Abdominal Tumor Board; and serves on the Medical Executive Board at Banner Thunderbird Hospital. She also serves as an adjunct professor at AT Still University and trains PA students for this school and for Midwestern. She is Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a fellow as well of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. She is on staff at hospitals in Phoenix, Glendale, and Sun City/Peoria. She spends what free time she has working on "Par Ellos," her Nicaraguan charity, working with her local church, and traveling, singing and hiking with her friends. She works hard to practice what she preaches, maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle.

Ever passionate about remaining current of trends and developments in her field, Dr. Forstner-Barthell completed training at the Mayo Clinic of Scottsdale, the Medical School at the Mayo Clinic of Rochester, Minn., and completed her fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery with the Colon and Rectal Clinic in Orlando, Fla in 2006. She was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry, and has received multiple other awards, including Top Docs in Phoenix, Most Compassionate Physician, American's Top Surgeons Award and Patient's Choice award for the past five years. She was recently awarded a Vitals 10 years of service award, as voted by patients. She continuously strives for excellence in her every endeavor.

In the coming years, this renowned surgeon looks forward to continuing to grow the practice as part of Arizona Associated Surgeons. She and her partner have just moved to a larger office, and will continue to work on staying on cutting edge of what surgery has to offer.
