For more than 16 years, Mr. Julian has been developing a diverse skill set in the area of personal injury litigation. He currently serves as a trial attorney and represents families versus insurance carriers at the helm of a renowned personal injury law firm. Mr. Julian also serves as a participant on the faculty of continuing legal education seminars and frequently is asked to speak in front of the legislature.
Even before graduating from law school, Mr. Julian worked for a plaintiff's personal injury law firm. Upon graduation he took the Indiana bar and immediately went to work fighting for families against insurance companies. In 2000, he was contacted by Charles Sweeney, who presented to him the idea of opening a new personal injury law firm in South Bend. Mr. Sweeney had practiced in South Bend for more than three decades, but at the time, only had an office in Fort Wayne. The South Bend office of Sweeney Law Firm opened only a year later. Ten years ago, Mr. Julian was bestowed with the honor of taking over Sweeney Julian P.C., when Mr. Sweeney retired in 2005.
Mr. Julian has earned a great reputation throughout Indiana as a guardian of the people and an advocate for individuals who have been injured as a result of another's negligence. He is well known throughout the local community for his philanthropic efforts on behalf of injured soldiers, those suffering from leukemia and other blood diseases, the Potawatomi Zoo, National Public Radio, Girls on the Run and many other charitable causes.
Mr. Julian's background encompasses the gamut of personal injury litigation. He possesses a diverse range of experience litigating cases that have involved motor vehicle collisions, tractor trailer/truck collisions and motorcycle collisions.
Upon reflecting on a rewarding career, Mr. Julian recalls knowing for a long time that he had wanted to earn his living in the courtroom as a trial attorney. However, he also knew that he had an obligation to his country. Before law school, he followed another calling by serving in the U.S. Navy. As a Naval officer on two prestigious warships, Mr. Julian served all over the world. He served during Desert Storm and also during Operation Maritime Guard and Operation Sharp Guard. Mr. Julian had been raised in a Navy family. His father, Frank Sr., was a naval officer who served for 35 years commanding several ships and retiring as a captain. In fact, Mr. Julian was born while his father was serving in Vietnam as the commanding officer of the USS Asheville. While growing up, his family lived all over the country, wherever his father's duty assignments took them. His mother is a nurse with a specialty in geriatric care and the director of nursing at several nursing homes. Mr. Julian is a recipient of a number of prominent Navy awards, including the Sea Service Ribbon, a Southwest Asia Service Medal, a National Defense Service Medal and The Battle 'E' Award. He also received the Navy Achievement Medal, the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal with a Gold Star.
Mr. Julian received his law degree from the University of Notre Dame. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and remains abreast of trends and developments in his field as trustee of the Indiana LAWPAC and as a Director and Executive Committee Member of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. He is also Co-Chairman of the ITLA Legislative Committee, and a member of the American Association for Justice, the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and the National Trial Lawyers Association. This year, he was named an AV Preeminent Attorney, and in 2010, he was placed on the list of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Indiana.
