A world-renowned refractive surgery specialist, Dr. Salz has carried out a complete range of refractive surgical procedures. He became involved in his profession after being influenced at the age of 9 by an eye doctor that he saw for his astigmatism. He was absolutely fascinated by the equipment that his physician used, and it inspired him to follow a professional path in health care.
Dr. Salz received an MD from Duke University, and later became Board Certified in Ophthalmology. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a former president of the International Society of Refractive Surgeons, a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Los Angeles Society of Ophthalmology, and the California Academy of Eye Surgeons. He received the prestigious Barraquer Award (1994) and the Lifetime Achievement Award (2003) for his Continuing Contributions to Refractive Surgery from the International Society of Refractive Surgeons. He also earned a Senior Honor Award (1997) and the Secretariat Award (2007) from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Salz has been listed in Castle Connolly's Top Doctors since 2004. He champions such worthy causes as the Knights of Columbus, in West Los Angeles where he chairs their annual charity golf tournament.
