The Napa Valley Wine Train Announces a New Partnership and Updated Winery Tour

The Ambassador Winery Trip now visits Charles Krug Winery and Raymond Vineyards

NAPA VALLEY, CA, March 12, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Three Napa Valley icons are coming together to create an unmatched Napa Valley experience for both locals and visitors alike. The Napa Valley Wine Train, Charles Krug Winery, Napa Valley's first winery, and eclectic Raymond Vineyards are partnering for a revamped Ambassador Winery Tour, where guests enjoy a day full of playful and educational tasting and touring.

"This is an exciting new partnership that is bringing together major players in Napa Valley's history and present day fame," said Kira Devitt, Director of Marketing and PR for the Napa Valley Wine Train. "We are thrilled to be working with Charles Krug and Raymond Vineyards to provide our guests with what really is a complete Napa Valley experience."

Guests will begin the day on the Napa Valley Wine Train, dining in a 100 year old Pullman railcar, built in 1915. Lunch will be freshly prepared while the Train travels up the western side of the Napa Valley, providing the opportunity for those on board to enjoy the views. Once in St. Helena, guests on the Ambassador Winey Tour will transfer to a motorcoach to transport them to Charles Krug Winery for a tour filled with wine tasting and history.

In 1861, just three years before the train tracks were put in, Charles Krug was established as the first winery in Napa Valley and played a huge role in the Valley's development as a world-renowned wine producing region. In 1943, Charles Krug was sold and joined the Mondavi family, who raised the winery to be on par with Napa Valley's Big Four. The winery remains family operated today, with Peter Mondavi Sr. acting as President with his sons Marc and Peter Jr. assuming major roles, continuing their dedication to producing the finest Bordeaux style wines in Napa Valley. Following the tour and tasting with food pairings, guests will board the motorcoach bound for Raymond Vineyards.

At Raymond Vineyards, guests will get a behind the scenes look at winemaking, sampling four wines throughout the tour. The Raymond family arrived in Napa in 1933 and was quickly immersed in winemaking, founding Raymond Vineyards in 1970. Five generations of the family helped create this Napa icon with an enduring reputation for elegant wines. Today, inspired by the vision of Proprietor Jean-Charles Boisset, Raymond is a diverse destination dedicated to inspiring its guests' passion for fine wine in an environment of exploration and creativity. The motorcoach will return guests to the Wine Train Station via the Silverado Trail on the eastern side of the Valley.
