School Of Rock Twin Cities Partners With Adoptaclassroom.Org To Raise Money For MN Public School Music Classrooms

Proceeds from BEST OF MINNESOTA, a School of Rock Twin Cities concert featuring music of Minnesota's notable musicians, will be donated to AdoptAClassroom.org to provide instruments to MN public school music classrooms.

ST. PAUL, MN, March 12, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Next month Twin Cities School of Rock students, ages 8 - 18, will perform alongside some of Minnesota's most notable professional musicians at BEST OF MINNESOTA, an all-ages live concert, to raise funds for AdoptAClassroom.org.

"The music needs of our public schools are basic," said Stacey Marmolejo, School of Rock Twin Cities franchise owner. "They aren't hoping to buy a Steinway piano. They need items as basic as rhythm sticks. As an example, Sky Oaks Elementary School in Burnsville has 'rhythm sticks that have peeling paint with the rough wood showing.' And they need Mallets for Orff instruments."

"While School of Rock teaches music and performance, we also teach students to be responsible musicians. One of those responsibilities includes using their talent to give back to the community," added Marmolejo. "And what better recipient than music students in Minnesota schools -- students in the same community, of the same age group and with the same interests as the School of Rock students."

There are currently 32 teachers requesting financial help specifically for music supplies and equipment on the AdoptAClassroom.org website including 18 classes in the metro Twin Cities.

AdoptAClassroom.org Executive Director Bob Thacker and the whole AdoptAClassroom.org team are thrilled to be a part of BEST OF MINNESOTA. "We believe that music education is an important opportunity for students to enrich their learning and personal development. In many of our schools, there is simply not the funding needed to purchase instruments, accessories, or even sheet music" said Bob Thacker, executive director of AdoptAClassroom.org. "We are so grateful to be a part of this dynamic, educational fundraiser in our hometown."

School of Rock Twin Cities Regional Manager, Nate Beck, is in discussions with more than a dozen of the Twin Cities most iconic musicians and expects to begin announcing the lineup in the next few days.

"I'll do my part to bring you an incredible lineup and I'd like to challenge local music fans to join forces with us to not only create a mind-blowing event but also to raise an unprecedented amount of funds for Adopt A Classroom and the local music classes they represent," said Beck.
