RALEIGH, NC, March 14, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The fourth annual Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Race 13.1 Raleigh, NC - Spring race, which will be held June 6, 2015, is proud to be announce that Girls on the Run of the Triangle will be its Official Charity Partner for the event.
The half marathon, 10k and 5k event is the flagship race of the former Midtown Race Series and has grown each year since the inaugural race in 2012 and is expected to sell out this year with 3,000 runners. Registration is now open through the official race website at http://www.race131.com.

The Triangle chapter of Girls on the Run, a national program that "inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running." The Triangle Chapter will be the Official Charity Partner for the Race 13.1 Raleigh - Fall on September 19th in addition to the upcoming June 6th event.

We are inviting all our GOTR Triangle alumnae to run in both of the Race 13.1 Race events as a way for them to show their continued commitment to living a healthy lifestyle while also supporting our organization."
The official start time for the half marathon is 7:00 a.m. The 5k and 10k will start at 7:15 a.m., and all three races will start and finish at North Hills. The USATF certified course will feature some of the city's most beautiful neighborhoods before heading onto the greenway along scenic Crabtree Creek.
The event will feature activities and amenities before, during and after the races that cater to the entire family. Some of these include a KidZone which will feature a bounce house, sign making stations to support a favorite runner and much more; music; sponsor tents and vendors to interact with and visit; and a finish line party to celebrate with the runners. One runner will have the chance to win a brand new Lexus courtesy of Johnson Lexus, and post-race massages will be available courtesy of Massage Envy.
Race 13.1 is one of the fastest growing half marathon race series in the United States. In 2015, they will grow to more than 20 races in eight states after a successful inaugural season consisting of five North Carolina races in 2014.
