Mr. McCallum is a commercial and corporate pilot with over 21 years of experience. His career in the legal field began after receiving a law degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston in 2001, where he also held membership with the school's International Trade Law Journal. Since graduation, Mr. McCallum has tried numerous personal injury cases, including fixed and rotary wing accidents, carbon monoxide exposure, pharmaceutical induced injuries and death to minor children, vehicle rollovers, eminent domain and right-of-way, aviation related product liability, non-subscriber cases, and general litigation.
In December of 2011, Mr. McCallum tried Ashley Reedy and Janie Reeves v. Greyhound Lines, Inc. and Rashad Armand Nichols, a three-week trial in the 193rd District Court in Dallas, receiving an unanimous verdict from the jury for both actual and punitive damages. This trial qualified as the largest verdict in Dallas County for 2011, as the jury awarded his client more than $18 million in damages. As well, within the past few years, Mr. McCallum was named Texas Rising Star and Superlawyer through Super Lawyers three years running, listed within the Top Trial Lawyers in Texas by The National Trial Lawyers Association, and has earned the 2013 and 2014 AV Preeminent Attorney designation through Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. McCallum maintains an edge amongst other lawyers with commitment as the head of the firm's catastrophic injury law practice and designated Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association panel attorney. He also stays active as a corporate aircraft captain and flight instructor, specializing in turbine aircraft. He has nationally and internationally flown more than 54 separate models of fixed and rotary wing aircraft, worked for many fixed base operators in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and instructed at several leading flight schools. Mr. McCallum additionally presents seminars to area pilots regarding FAA regulations, FAA enforcement actions, aircraft acquisition and tax issues, while maintaining current licensure for VFR and IFR flight in single and multi-engine aircraft for charter, passenger and instructional operations.
Mr. McCallum received a Bachelor of Arts degree and training from the University of Oklahoma's flight school.
