COLLINSVILLE, IL, March 18, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Rebecca Fornero, local orthodontist and owner of Fornero Orthodontics, is proud to announce that her practice is now using one of the latest pieces of cutting-edge technology to assist in capturing images of patients' teeth.
The Lythos Digital Impression Scanner allows Dr. Fornero to take digital models of her patients' mouths without needing to use the standard tray of impression material to capture an impression. The orthodontist can then store the scan and keep it for future reference. This scanner captures impressions accurately and easily all while providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience for both the patients and the staff. Patients who have had both the old impression system and the new scanner used prefer the scanner.
"I am very pleased to be using this great piece of technology in my practice now," said Dr. Fornero. "I take pride in staying up-to-date with the latest technology in the orthodontic field and feel that this will really help patients relax and be at ease while we take care of all their orthodontic needs."
Unlike other scanners, the Lythos Digital Impression System is a handheld, portable, intraoral three-dimensional imager that captures the 3D topography of a patient's teeth, gingival, and palate in clinical settings. A single high-resolution scan allows for a dual-arch capture in an average of 7 minutes, allowing the patient to relax without keeping any traditional impression trays in their mouths.
"The smaller wand tip and this machine's fascinating ability to capture live data in a moist environment without the presence of messy powders will help patients become more comfortable and keep them in the chair for less time," Dr. Fornero said. "I feel that this piece of equipment will help assuage many patients' worries and fears in regards to braces and orthodontics in general. I'm very proud to be using this great piece of technology here in my practice!"
Fornero Orthodontics was established in 1993 and has been providing superior service to patients residing in Collinsville and the surrounding Metro East St. Louis Region. The practice's friendly and knowledgeable staff members utilize the latest up-to-date technology in their treatments, and they have been treating all types of orthodontic challenges for over 20 years.
