California law is clear. Employers must pay their employees for all hours worked. Employers cannot pay employees for part of their work day and then pay them nothing for the other hours in the day.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, March 18, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On March 13, 2015, a former employee of JetBlue Airlines Corporation filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California seeking unpaid minimum wage pay. He brought the case on behalf of flight attendants who worked for JetBlue and flew into or out of California. In the complaint, he alleges that JetBlue failed to pay at least the minimum wage for all hours worked, especially for time before and after flights. Instead, the Complaint alleges, JetBlue only paid its flight attendants for the hours after the plane left the departure gate until it arrived at the destination gate.
JetBlue employs more than 15,000 crew members. It operates 825 daily flights, serving 87 locations. In 2013, JetBlue had $5.441 billion in revenue.
Plaintiff's attorney Matthew Helland stated, "California law is clear. Employers must pay their employees for all hours worked. Employers cannot pay employees for part of their work day and then pay them nothing for the other hours in the day."
