PROVO, UT, March 25, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Career Step, an online provider of career-focused education and corporate training, will be exhibiting at the 2015 HealthCon event hosted by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) March 29 through 31 in Las Vegas. Career Step representatives will be available in booth 502 at the show to provide information and answer questions on the organization's training tools and resources for ICD-10 preparation and medical coder career development.
"Medical coding is a very big part of who we are as a company, which makes the AAPC national conference one of our most important events of the year," said Ryan Ewer, Career Step Vice President of Enrollments and Marketing. "We are excited for the opportunity it provides to connect with professionals and companies from all across the health information management space to discuss ways we can work together to meet the challenges currently facing the industry."
Two of the largest issues facing the HIM industry that Career Step will be focusing on at this event are the ICD-10 transition and the growing shortage of medical coding and billing professionals. With the ICD-10 implementation date on track for October 1, 2015, organizations have less than a year to finish preparing their coders and other staff members for the new code set. The training and preparation required to be ready for this transition is being compounded by the increasing lack of medical coding professionals in the industry.
Career Step's exhibitor booth, number 502, will focus on providing solutions for both of these challenges. The company offers a number of ICD-10 preparation tools and resources, including assessment and refresher training for large acute care organizations as well as tailored training developed specifically for smaller clinics and physician practices. Career Step also offers educational resources for organizations interested in developing long-term education plans to better support their future medical coding staffing needs.
"Though we work closely with medical coders, employers, and other HIM professionals throughout the year, the AAPC conference provides us an excellent opportunity to touch base with the industry as a whole," said Jerolyn Carter, Career Step Vice President of Academics. "We are able to ensure our instructors have access to the latest continuing education and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and solutions within the industry so we can better serve and support our students, clients and partners."
Career Step has been training medical coding and billing professionals for over 15 years and currently offers a number of education tools and resources for professionals in the field. More information will be available at Career Step's HealthCon exhibit in booth 502. Details are also available at CareerStep.com.
