Mark A. Lester Honored by Worldwide Registry for Excellence in Estate Planning

Mr. Lester has spent more than 34 years in the legal field, and has established a reputation of distinction and prominence in the areas of estate planning, trust and probate law as a Martindale-Hubbell AV (Preeminent ) Peer Review Rated (for Ethical Standards and Legal Ability) attorney. As a managing partner with Jones & Lester, LLP, Mr. Lester is responsible for litigating contested trust, estate and conservatorship matters, drafting simple and complex estate plans, and providing estate planning and trust and estate administration services for all types of families and individuals. Jones & Lester, LLP provides legal services in the areas of corporate and business law, business litigation, trust and estate litigation, succession and estate planning, trust administration and probate, real estate, public agency law, taxation and computer law.

Admitted to practice in 1981, Mr. Lester's first day of practice was on June 1, 1981 in Santa Barbara, California with the firm formerly known as Hatch and Parent. His strong tax background propelled him to the forefront of the legal field amongst California business law and estate planning attorneys.

Mr. Lester received a JD from the University of Puget Sound School of Law (now Seattle University) after earning a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University in Economics. He received his LLM in Taxation from Boston University in 1981. Mr. Lester is also a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law through the California Board of Legal Specialization. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and he is also on the board of directors of the Oxnard Police Foundation and of the Family Health Care Centers of Greater Los Angeles, Inc. Mr. Lester currently serves as a commissioner on the Estate Planning Law Advisory Commission of the California Board of Legal Specialization (2011 to present - member, 2014-2015 - Vice Chairman, 2015-2016 - Chairman). He is also on the executive committee of the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the Ventura County Bar Association, assists with the Los Angeles County Bar Association Dispute Resolution Services (1991 to present) and the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Probate Department - Volunteer Settlement Officer Program, and volunteers with the Ventura County Wellness Caregiver Resource Center (2010 to present). Mr. Lester was named one of the Ten Most Dependable Lawyers (Trusts and Estates) of California by Goldline Research in 2008, as well as a Southern California Super Lawyer in Estate Planning and Probate and in Estate and Trust Litigation in 2015.
