Ms. Clariond has 35 years of experience in writing and editing, with 11 years of experience as founder of Vaso Roto Ediciones, where she lends her expertise in poetry, translation and editing. Vaso Roto Ediciones is an independent publisher that publishes renown poets, thinkers and novelists from all over the world. Prior to joining Vaso Roto Ediciones, Ms. Clariond worked as a Professor at the Universidad Mexicana del Noreste, and as an editor, corrector, poet, translator and publisher. She has written 12 books and translated 20 poetry books. Amongst the anglo poets translated we find critic Harold Bloom, Wallace Stevens, Charles Wright, W.S. Merwin, Anne Carson, and form the Italian Alda Merini, Primo Levi, and Roberto Carifi. In 2006, she founded the first Poetry Award for the blind (written in Braille) in Mexico; it will be extended internationally in 2015. Vaso Roto Ediciones has published the winners biannually. In 1999, Jeannette L. Clariond received the Efraín Huerta National Poetry Award, and she was a finalist for the Ramón López-Velarde National Award. In 2004, Jeannette L. Clariond received the Gonzalo Rojas National Poetry Award, and was Finalist of Premio Cope de Perú. She was recently awarded with the Juan de Mairena in Guadalajara and was recipient of Edition Award by the University of Nuevo León.
July 23, 2014 was the 45th anniversary of man walking on the moon's surface. Ms. Clariond believes that poetry has been in touch with the moon since many centuries ago. She says, "The Chinese poets, the Japanese poets, the Aztecs poets, the Sufi poets and the Greek poets all showed us the light and the darkness of the Moon, the real Moon; the one that lights up our days and darkens the shadows when more black is needed to bring up the Whiteness of Transparency." Under the supervision of Professor Harold Bloom, the most important critic in the U.S. on the topics of Shakespeare and North American poetry, Ms. Clariond published "The School of Wallace Stevens: a Profile of North American Poetry."
She attributes her success to her passion, and ability to give the respect that each reader deserves. She became involved in her profession because as a child, she always saw her parents reading. The highlights of her career include her passion for poetry, her belief in reading, and her faith in books. A master's degree in methodology of science in 1985 and a master's degree in letras Espanolas in 1982, both earned in Mexico, have also help her succeed in her career. Professionally, she is one of the most relevant poets in Latin America. She has earned the Rockefeller-Conaculta Grant, the Vermont Studio Center for the Arts Grant, and has worked at Banff Translation Center in Canada. She a member of the Board of The University of Monterrey, and she is presently working to complete her doctoral degree.
