NEW YORK, NY, April 19, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The French Consul General in New York City, Mr. Bertrand Lortholary, will preside during an evening ceremony, May 14, 2015, at the French Consulate in New York, recognizing 10 years of international service by Ms. Dening Wu Lohez and the Jerome Lohez 9/11 Scholarship Foundation.
Ms. Lohez is the widow of Jerome R. Lohez, one of five French nationals who perished in the World Trade Center, Sept. 11, 2001. She is the founder and chair of the New York City-based Foundation, created in 2005 to promote educational and cultural exchange between France and the United States.
As an expression of its expanded global vision for the future, in 2012 the Lohez Foundation initiated partnerships with international graduate programs at Fudan University in Shanghai. Ms. Lohez was born in Shanghai and currently holds dual French-American citizenship.
Within the course of one decade, the Foundation has awarded more than 30 individual scholarships to a growing constituency of outstanding young leaders, who will help shape the world we live in tomorrow.
In 2013, the French Government bestowed on Ms. Lohez one of its highest civilian service awards, the Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Merite, for her tireless support of international education to promote friendship and cultural exchange among France, China and the United States.
During the May 14 Awards Ceremony, scholarships from the Lohez Foundation will be conferred in person upon two dual-degree students: Ms. Barbara Crepeau (France - EPITA / Stevens Institute of Technology) and Ms. Juliette Faure (France - Sciences Po / Columbia University). Honored in his absence will be Mr. Soliman Elcheikh, currently studying in France as part of his dual-degree fulfillment between Sciences Po and Columbia University.
