Ian Walters Honored for his Skills as a Technical Writer

    VICTORIA POINT, AUSTRALIA, April 20, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ian Walters, Director and Senior Consultant of Echidna Works Writing Solutions has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in technical writing.

Mr. Walters has 15 years of professional experience, having recently formed Echidna Works Writing Solutions. Throughout his career, he has set himself apart as an expert in technology, aviation, engineering, project management, solution development and training. Each day, he is responsible for working directly with clients and writing tender documents, which include federal, state and local government, and commercial tenders. He also provides technical writing services for user manuals, maintenance manuals and installation procedures.

Prior to forming Echidna Works Writing Solutions, Mr. Walters worked as a weapons technician, flight engineer and recruitment consultant for the Royal Australian Air Force. In the past, he was affiliated with Apex International. He has published three novels and received several military awards. At the Queensland Writers Center, he volunteers his time promoting authors throughout Queensland. He currently serves as the Secretary.

His thoughts on business are simple: "It is personal, and it is business." When people say "nothing personal" in regards to business, then people do take it personally. His other words of advice are "Your team is your professional family," whether it's an air crew team a bid team or project team. "Treat them well, be honest and friendly and get the job done." Lastly, he advises, "Don't be afraid of bosses. They are people too."

Looking back, Mr. Walters attributes his success to being able to understand exactly what the client is looking for. He sets himself apart from his peers due to his reliability, honesty, and value for money. He became involved in his profession through working with Boeing on defence tendering contracts and authoring technical documents. He became a technical author when he left the military. The highlight of his military service was completing flight engineer training and serving with a Peace Keeping Force in Sinai. While with Boeing, he was part of the team that won a substantial defence contract, Air 9000 Phase 7 Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS) for the Australian Defence Force.

Mr. Walters received a Diploma in Engineering from the Royal Australian Air Force, having also received a Certificate IV in training and assessment. He has also earned an ADF Service Medal, as well as an Australian Service Medal and a Defence Service Medal. In the coming years, Mr. Walters intends to grow the business and expand his network of fellow professionals and friends.
