In her role as an obstetrics and gynecology practitioner, Dr. Leiter is committed to providing an exceptional level of care in the area of women's health. Whether seeing women experiencing high-risk pregnancies to ensure they carry and deliver healthy babies, or assisting women with fibroids to overcome pain through surgical procedures, she is passionate about helping her patients achieve a better quality of life. Dr. Leiter's areas of expertise include high-risk obstetrics, treatment of postpartum depression, infertility, menopause, and dysfunctional uterine bleeding, all of which she has encountered during more than two decades as an attending physician at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Beyond her capacity to treat patients, Dr. Leiter is vice president of Mount Sinai's Medical Board and an executive board member and former president of the Association of Attending Physicians. She also serves on the admissions committee of the Icahn School of Medicine. Additionally, she is an associate clinical professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive science, teaching and precepting medical students and OB/GYN residents on topics related to gynecology. Dr. Leiter has served on the medical advisory board of Sharsheret, a nonprofit organization serving women of Jewish descent recently diagnosed or living with breast cancer. Through the organization, she shares her knowledge of gynecological health, infertility and reproductive health as a lecturer. She is also involved on the Medical Advisory Board for the Jewish Center for Genetic Health.
The author of "Everything You Need to Know to Have a Healthy Twin Pregnancy," Dr. Leiter herself is the mother of twins and two other daughters, and she has published research in several peer-reviewed journals. She has also edited several publications on pregnancy and childbirth and contributed to research on the effects of postpartum depression.
Dr. Leiter received an MD from Yeshiva University and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and holds membership with the New York Gynecological Society and the New York County Medical Society. Outside of her professional duties, she enjoys cycling and running, and recently competed in several triathlons.
