A Taste of Burgundy on La Belle Époque
Bordered by the River Loire in the west and by the Champagne region in the east, Burgundy France is most known for its superb wines. It offers visitors a mix of unspoiled countryside and historical towns. Cruising this region is the spacious hotel barge, La Belle Époque. The itinerary includes chateaux visits and a Chablis wine tasting at one of Burgundy's distinguished wine cellars. The cruise includes a chauffeured transfer service to and from Paris.
European Waterways is offering $2,500 off per cabin on La Belle Époque for departures on June 21, July 12 and 26, and August 16. It also offers $15,000 off for full 12-passenger charter for select departures in May, July and August.
Living the Life on L'Art de Vivre
Another hotel barge cruising Burgundy, the delightful L'Art de Vivre, also presents a varied itinerary, including excursions to the riverside town of Auxerre, famous for its Gothic Cathedral, the magnificent hilltop pilgrimage village of Vezelay, and the elegant 12th century Château de Bazoches.
European Waterways is offering $2,500 off per cabin on L'Art de Vivre for departures on June 14 and 21, and July 19. It also offers $10,000 off for full 8-passenger charter for select departures in May, July and August.
Story Book Towns and Medieval Villages
The hotel barge Panache, which cruises the Alsace-Lorraine region of France, introduces guests to the region's distinctive mixture of French and German architecture and cuisine. Among the many unique experiences offered by the cruise is a ride on the "boat elevator" at Arzviller, which lifts the vessel 450 feet up a mountainside. The itinerary also includes a romantic candlelit breakfast as the barge moves through two tunnels; a visit to the spectacular Rene Lalique Collection; and wine tastings at vineyards on the renowned Route des Vins d'Alsace.
European Waterways is offering $2,500 off per cabin on Panache and no single supplement for the July 12 and August 2 departures. Full-boat charters are also available at $15,000 off for select departures in July and August.
The Land of Folklore, Battles and Distilled Whisky
The Scottish Highlander leisurely cruises the Caledonian Canal and across the famous Loch Ness with a spectacularly scenic Highlands backdrop. Its itinerary includes a visit to the medieval castles of Eilean Donan and Macbeth's Cawdor, exploration and walks through battle fields from the 17th and 18th centuries, and a tour of the Glen Ord distillery, where guests can taste some wonderful malts.
European Waterways is offering $2,500 off per cabin on the Scottish Highlander for select departures in May through July. It also offers $10,000 off per full 8-passenger charter for select departures during these months.
"Europe and the British Isles are bustling with activity, celebrations, and special events during the warm weather months," said Derek Banks, managing director of European Waterways. About European Waterways
The hotel barging experience is different from large vessel river cruising. It offers a slower paced, "gentle voyage of discovery" along the more intimate canals and waterways of Europe, allowing a small number of guests to become more fully immersed in the culture, history and gastronomy of the region. European Waterways is Europe's largest all-inclusive luxury hotel barging company, offering vacations in nine countries and carrying over 2,000 passengers a year. Founded nearly 40 years ago, they own, operate and market a private fleet of luxury hotel barges with cruises in France, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, England, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg. Pioneers in hotel barging, they were the first company to operate a hotel barge on the Upper Nivernais in Burgundy, and the "real" Loire Valley. They are also the only cruise company offering barge cruises in Scotland and in the Venetian lagoon and River Po valley. Please visit http://www.gobarging.com for more information.
