Career Step Releases Video for Military Spouses Searching for a Rewarding Career

Career Step has just released a short video that provides tips for choosing a career as a military spouse as well as advice on selecting a military-friendly education program.

PROVO, UT, April 30, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Career Step, an online provider of career-focused education and corporate training, has just released a short animated video that offers guidance for military spouses considering a career change. The video outlines important things to consider when choosing a career as a military spouse as well as advice on selecting a military-friendly education program.

"Serving the military community is a significant piece of Career Step's mission," said Tim Reynolds, Career Step Military Liaison. "Over the years, we have worked with more than 13,000 military spouses and have partnered with various programs and initiatives designed to support the military community. Our focus and support helps ensure military spouses have access to the education they need for successful and portable careers."

According to the Department of Defense, military spouses earn 25 percent less than their civilian peers. These challenges are often due to frequent relocations typical of the military lifestyle. These frequent moves make it difficult for military spouses to obtain experience and tenure with a company, and employers may also be hesitant to hire a candidate who may leave in two years or less.

Nevertheless, military spouses can secure a fulfilling career as there are certain industries that are friendlier than others to the military lifestyle. Career Step's newly released "Finding the Perfect Military Spouse Career" video outlines key things military spouses should consider when making important career choices, including portability, licensing and certification, and where opportunities are available.

"We recognize that military spouses face unique challenges when it comes to finding a fulfilling career," said Ben Hartman, Vice President of Enrollments. "We are privileged to work closely with military spouses every day, and we have seen firsthand that long-term career success is often directly linked to quality education. Over the years, we have had the pleasure of helping thousands of military spouses get the start they needed to enjoy gratifying careers while overcoming the hurdles that often accompany the military lifestyle."

Career Step has been serving the military community for over 20 years and is involved in a number of initiatives including MyCAA and the Military Spouse Employment Partnership. Named as a Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs magazine for five years in a row, the school also offers a number of military-specific benefits such as tuition discounts and dedicated academic advisors.
