Mr. Spiro has 37 years of experience in the legal profession, and is presently an attorney for Altshuler & Spiro. There, he practices in the areas of probate, estate planning, trust and taxation law. Among his daily duties, he is tasked with representing executors in probating estates and trustees in administering trusts, and preparing federal estate tax returns, wills, revocable trusts and irrevocable trusts.
To support his qualifications, Mr. Spiro holds a Bachelor of Arts, which he received from UCLA in 1975, a JD, which he completed at Loyola Law School in 1978, and a Master of Science in Taxation, which he earned from Golden Gate University in 1980. He is also a Certified Specialist in Probate, Estate Planning and Trust Law, and a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law.
Looking back on a career that has spanned nearly four decades, Mr. Spiro noted that his initial interest in the field was piqued by his father's work. His father worked in the tax section of the trust department of Bank of America, which attracted Mr. Spiro to this particular type of law. Thirty-seven years later, Mr. Spiro's duties also include assisting clients in funding trusts by transferring assets, and in changing the beneficiaries of IRAs, retirement plans and life insurance policies.
In pursuit of professional development beyond the workplace, Mr. Spiro formerly served as the president of the Beverly Hills Estate Planning Council, and he was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry, an exclusive membership organization. He has also been an avid supporter of the L.A. Police Department for over 30 years.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Mr. Spiro has been AV rated with Martindale-Hubbell. He has an AVVO rating of 10.0, and he has been identified among the top five percent of lawyers in the area of estate planning by Super Lawyers.
