NEW YORK, NY, May 16, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- C. M. Rubin (Cathy), creator of The Global Search for Education series and publisher of CMRubinWorld, believes we face a crisis in education. To explore the challenge facing future generations, Rubin has helped organize the Oppi Festival.
According to the International Labor Organization, an agency of the UN, global unemployment stood at 201 million people in 2014, and that number is expected to rise to 212 million by 2019. The current worldwide unemployment rate among 15 to 24 year-olds is 13%, which is almost three times higher than the overall unemployment rate. The rising costs of education coupled with the rising rates of unemployment are cause for concern and need immediate intervention. Rubin comments, "Students are the consumers of education but should not be the casualty, so how do we best prepare them for the dramatic socio-economic demands of a digital world in a global age?"
To discover the answers, the Oppi Festival has been organized as a global collective learning event - which will be held at Leman Manhattan School in NYC on May 15 and 16. Rubin hopes the Festival, with its themes of Global Collaboration, Gender It Matters, and Living: The Arts, "will raise awareness for and find sustainable solutions to the future of learning." United by a passion for education, renowned thought leaders in education, policy, business, and cultural and student communities will step into each other's worlds for two days to talk, do, make, listen, and play with all things about learning.
