Thomas W. Kirby Honored for his Legal Acumen

    WASHINGTON, DC, May 18, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Thomas W. Kirby, Partner of Wiley Rein LLP, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in First Amendment and copyright law.

Mr. Kirby has 40 years of legal experience, having spent the entirety of his career with Wiley Reid LLP. Currently a partner, he concentrates on litigation, particularly free speech and copyright cases. He has been praised for his legal imagination and his ability to boil complicated legal matters down to clear and persuasive presentations. Looking back, he became involved in law because he had a lifelong interest in the art of argument and persuasion. This led naturally to competing in high school and college debate, and then to a successful career in law.

Born in a small town on the Gulf Coast, Mr. Kirby received a JD from the Georgetown University Law Center, having also received a Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana State University. In addition to his degrees, he completed a clerkship for the Honorable Myron Bright of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in 1976. He maintains affiliation with the District of Columbia Bar, the Maryland Bar, the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh and District of Columbia Circuits. Furthermore, he is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts, the Central District of Illinois, District of Columbia, District of Maryland, Eastern District of Arkansas and Western District of Arkansas. In years to come, Mr. Kirby intends to experience continued growth within his profession.
