SUMMIT, NJ, May 18, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jeffrey Politsky, MD, MSc, FRCP(C), Neurologist and Epilepsy Specialist with the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in medical practice.
Specializing in neurology, with a sub-specialty in epilepsy, Dr. Politsky has clinical interests in tumor-related epilepsy, critical care monitoring, and functional brain mapping. He provides clinical care for patients with epilepsy and related neurologic conditions. He is board certified in neurology and neurophysiology (electroencephalography) by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology, the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, and the Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists. He holds medical licenses in several states including New York and New Jersey, and is an active member of several organizations including the American Epilepsy Society, the American Academy of Neurology, the Society of Neuro-Oncology, the Neuro-Critical Care Society, and the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society, among others.
Dr. Politsky earned his Bachelors of Science degrees in Neurosciences and Psychology and a Master of Science degree in pharmacology from the University of Toronto. He then obtained an MD from the University of Western Ontario before completing an internship in internal medicine and a residency in neurology at St. Paul's Hospital and the Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Center at the University of British Columbia. Finally, Dr. Politsky completed a two-year fellowship in epilepsy, clinical neurophysiology and intra-operative monitoring at Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard Medical School. He serves as an associate director for the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group, and is the Medical Director of the Atlantic Neuroscience Institute's Comprehensive Epilepsy Center (an NAEC Level 4 Epilepsy Center) and Co-Director of the Overlook MEG & Functional Brain Mapping Center in Summit, NJ.
Throughout his 21-year career, Dr. Politsky has earned a bevy of awards, including recognition as a Top Physician by the Consumer's Research Council of America (2009-2010), Castle Connolly, Inside Jersey Magazine Top Doctors, and New York Metro Area's Top Doctors for multiple consecutive years. He has co-authored numerous studies for medical journals, and written several academic book chapters, and serves on several committees. Most recently Dr. Politsky has been spear-heading the development of a multi-disciplinary consortium. The primary objectives of this Brain Tumor-Related Epilepsy Research Consortium (BTREC) are to understand the complex relationship between brain tumors and epilepsy and ultimately to standardize and improve the quality of life of patients afflicted with these two serious neurologic conditions.
Dr. Politsky is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the New York Metro area, including Overlook Medical Center, Morristown Medical Center, and Hackensack University Medical Center. He speaks several languages, including French.
