NEW YORK, NY, May 18, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Joseph N. Shams of Advanced Vascular Care has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in interventional radiology.
Dr. Shams has distinguished himself as a valuable resource in the field of vascular and interventional radiology over his 22 year medical career. In his previous position, he served as Section Chief for the Interventional Radiology Division at Mt. Sinai-Beth Israel Medical Center as well as Director of the Interventional Radiology Fellowship program. He has presently joined an outpatient surgical/interventional radiology practice, Advanced Vascular Care, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. He holds an academic appointment as an assistant clinical professor of radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is also affiliated with St-Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital and Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn. His areas of specialty including endovascular treatment of lower extremity arterial vascular disease, venous disease, and dialysis access management. His clinical interests also include uterine fibroid embolization, varicocele embolization, chemoembolization for liver tumors, central venous access and renal artery stenting.
Looking back, Dr. Shams attributes his success to working hard at something for which he is passionate.

Dr. Shams completed a fellowship in Interventional Radiology at Yale-New Haven Medical Center, having received an MD from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. In addition, he holds a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Interventional Radiology, earned through the American Board of Radiology. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with the Society of Interventional Radiology and the Radiological Society of North America. He was named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor from 2012-2015, and was included in the current 18th Edition of New York Metro Area's Top Doctors
