Sudipa Biswas, MD, MPH, Honored for Excellence in Epidemiology

    HOUSTON, TX, May 26, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Sudipa Biswas, Staff Epidemiologist for the City of Houston, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Branding. As an Epidemiologist, Dr. Biswas plays a key role in infection control and preventative efforts through public health services. She works with the City of Houston's health department to investigate communicable diseases, which involves performing HIV surveillance, collaborating with field workers, following up with providers and clients, and updating data as necessary. A skilled public speaker and mentor, Dr. Biswas possesses expertise in epidemiology, epidemiological research, health care management, and program development. Her clinical expertise has provided her with a strong understanding of infection control, and strengthened her skills as an efficient public health professional and manager.

A graduate of Chittagong Medical College, Dr. Biswas holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery earned in 2000. Upon moving to the United States, she decided to become involved with the U.S. health system. She earned a scholarship to Texas A&M University, where she received a Master of Public Health in 2009. Dr. Biswas then had opportunities in government to work with communities and have direct client contact. She found that she truly enjoys working in a challenging sector that deals with HIV and STDs. Looking toward the future, Dr. Biswas plans to grow in her current position, implement improvements, and perform more epidemiological research.
