Debbie M. Shelley Honored for Excellence in Mining

    GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA, May 29, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Debbie M. Shelley, Project Controls Superintendent of Ok Tedi Mining Limited, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in commercial management.

Ms. Shelley has 20 years of professional experience, having recently become a Project Controls Superintendent at Ok Tedi Mining Limited. Throughout her career, she has set herself apart as an expert in commercial management, project controls and business analytics. On a daily basis, she is responsible for managing the budget and schedules for various projects, supervising a team of ten and providing overall support for project controls, human resources, QA/QC, procurement and contract management. Ok Tedi Mining Limited is a mine operations company that provides open-pit copper, gold and silver mining.

During her career, Ms. Shelley has worked her way up to senior management roles. She is currently in the mining industry, a predominantly male field, in middle management roles. She always operates with the highest level of integrity and has a strong passion for making a significant contribution to an organization's goals. In every position she has held, she has implemented systems, processes and controls that have improved overall performance and realised bottom line savings.

She attributes her success to her passion and drive. She became involved in her profession because of her prior experiences. She was involved in forestry for nearly a decade and a half, dealing with greenhouse gas projects. After successfully turning that business around, she needed a change. The highlight of her career has been mentoring the nationals in third world countries. Due to her training, the people she has worked with in Papua New Guinea and Africa have a great work ethic.

Ms. Shelley received a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and Human Resources Management from Southern Cross University in 1997. She is presently pursuing an Associate Certified Practicing Accountant of CPA Australia Ltd. She maintains affiliation with CPA Australia Ltd. In years to come, Ms. Shelley intends to serve in a similar role.
