Former Jamaica Gardens Site Begins Transformation

    CHICAGO, IL, June 02, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Construction plans have been announced for Green Oaks Senior Living, launching the transformation of the area surrounding the former Jamaica Gardens Nursery site at I-94 and Rockland Road, part of a long-term economic development plan for the Village of Green Oaks.

Slated to open in late 2016, the community will offer seniors a wide range of living options, all featuring luxury amenities at an affordable price, including flexible month-to-month leasing programs.

Green Oaks is a project of Spectrum Retirement Communities, a Denver-based company ranked in the top five senior living companies for excellence by its peers. Green Oaks is Spectrum's fifth community in northern Illinois. The company also operates communities in Cary, Lake Zurich, Lombard and Streamwood.

The 200,000-square-foot community is located at 14595 W. Rockland Road. It will feature 110 Independent Living and 60 Assisted Living residences ranging in size from studio apartments to two-bedroom lakeside cottages. Residents can take advantage of the community's top-flight amenities - including chef-prepared dining, Colors of Spectrum wellness programs and entertainment activities - and enjoy walking paths through the community's gardens, a nod to the site's heritage.

Residences maximize independence and peace of mind while also catering to the needs of individuals, including those with Alzheimer's disease or dementia. The community will feature 24 Memory Care residences and Spectrum's unique Residence Club, which allows residents with mild cognitive impairment to stay in an assisted living apartment and receive additional support from a dedicated Life Enrichment Specialist.
