Dr. Herbert Kleber Recognized for Excellence in Substance Abuse Treatment

    NEW YORK, NY, June 02, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Herbert Kleber, Physician and Psychiatrist at NewYork-Prebysterian Hospital, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in substance abuse treatment.

Dr. Kleber has been working in the field of psychiatry for more than four decades. Recognized among the New York Metro Area's Top Doctors, he focuses his practice on the research and treatment of substance abuse through the development and improvement of medications currently used at most facilities. He is known in the medical community as a pioneer in this area, and he eagerly shares his knowledge and resources with other physicians so that together, they can make a significant impact. Dr. Kleber is the author of more than 250 papers, chapters and books dealing with all aspects of substance abuse. He founded in 1992 and heads the Division on Substance Abuse at Columbia/New York State Psychiatric Institute.

Dr. Kleber holds an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College, an MD from Thomas Jefferson Medical School, and a psychiatric residency at Yale University . To stay active in his professional community, he has served on three Institute of Medicine Committees, numerous government panels and eight national boards in the areas of prevention, epidemiology, treatment and policy.
