Showing women how to have fun trying new things in the great outdoors and gaining new life skills is an empowering treasure. That's exactly what happens at Wild Women Unite!
CRYSTAL RIVER, FL, June 03, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Wild Women Unite was a concept designed for women to feel comfortable trying new outdoor activities with other women. The founder, Yvonne Folck has always been an outdoors-enthusiast and to this day still holds the title of largest King Salmon caught at a lodge she operated in Alaska. In 2003, Yvonne Folck held her first Wild Women Unite weekend for 168 participants in Sandy Creek, NY.
Groups of co-workers sign up, generations sign up together, BFFs too.
In 2014, Grand Island NY hosted the event to just over 200 women, kicking off with a videotaped welcome greeting from New York Senator Kirsten Hilliabrand.
Earlier this year, Ms. Folck turned her original location over to Suzanne Perry, founder of "Love Shouldn't Hurt.TV," a nonprofit organization that raises awareness and provides support to men and women impacted by domestic violence.
Ms. Folck relocated to Florida with her family; and this week announced some exciting new appointments and new locations.
Ms. Folck, though she will always have the moniker "The Original Wild Woman," has been appointed the National Director of Business Development. She will cultivate strategic partnerships for the brand, pursue sponsorship opportunities and business partnering; and locate, develop and support additional site locations.
She will also be the Site Director for her new hometown, Crystal River, taking place in January, and will feature 'swimming with the manatee.' Another workshop will feature two-time Emmy Award winner Mark Emery who will teach Wild Photography. Mark has done many films for National Geographic. Other workshops include geocaching, map and compass, walking in nature, and wild yoga, with more to be announced.
Ms. Perry was appointed National Public Relations and Media Director and is responsible for all media relations, marketing, site development and web content.
She will also be Site Director for New York, with Grand Island taking place October 2-3 where she will teach 'Happy Camp.' Examples of other workshops offered are Zentangle, Chain of Defense (Krav Maga theory based), gun shooting basics, horseback riding, kayaking, and participating in a drum circle.
Cabela's is a second-year sponsor, and their staff will provide the workshops for Spin- and fly-fishing and for archery this year.
Ms. Denise Bradley was named Site Director for Wild Women Unite in Bastrop, Texas taking place in Bastrop State Park September 18-19, 2015. Her location will feature Primitive hunting, zip line and high elements, Dutch oven cooking, Nature Meditation and more, with an additional opportunity to 'cruise the Colorado River' in rafts on Sunday.
Locations currently confirmed are Bastrop, TX; Charlotte, NC; Crystal River, FL; Grand Island (Buffalo), NY, Long Island, NY and Birmingham, AL. Sites being developed include undisclosed locations in California, Nevada and Arizona.
Love Shouldn't Hurt.TV was named the official charity partner of Wild Women Unite.
Ms. Folck and Ms. Perry, along with Hot Jam Media's 'CameraDude' (Scottie O'Dell) will travel to present, participate and capture footage at each of the locations.
