BALTIMORE, MD, June 08, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nestor Aparicio, aka, "Nasty Nestor," owner of Baltimore sports radio station WNST-AM1570 & WNST.net, turns into "Nice Nestor" with the #GiveASpit campaign, raising awareness of the power of saving lives through the International Bone Marrow Registry. In conjunction with the awareness campaign, #GiveASpit has partnered with the CauseNetwork, a non-profit fundraising platform offered for free to non-profit and charitable organizations. CauseNetwork will stand up a shopping website for supporters of the #GiveASpit campaign, https://hero.CauseNetwork.com, enabling supporters to make online purchases from select retailers at a discount. Every purchase automatically generates as much as a 10% donation from the retailer back to the GiveASpit campaign.
Nestor, who has been doing sports media for 31 years in Baltimore, took to his vast social media network after his wife Jenn was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia last year in March, and endured a grueling round of chemotherapy treatments. In May, Jenn went into remission and was given a second chance at life when a perfect match was found in Germany on the bone marrow registry. On June 26, 2014, she received a bone marrow transplant at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore that saved her life. Now that #JennStrong is a survivor, the couple wants to pay it forward by raising awareness of the power of a swab of spit to find DNA matches and save lives via the International Bone Marrow Registry.
Nestor will travel to 30 Major League Baseball stadiums in 30 days, beginning in Baltimore on June 13, 2015. He will be raising awareness by taking swabs of spit of as many people as divinely possible to add to the bone marrow registry. Sports figures, celebrities, fans, and anyone who wishes to be a part of the #GiveASpit campaign are invited to come out to the their local team's game and literally, give a spit.
