New Mechanical Thrombectomy Device Provides Value in the Outpatient Physician Office

The Aspire Device is Effective in the Physician Office Setting.

"The ASPIRE technology allowed us to provide the highest level of care to meet this patient's clinical need."

PARK CITY, UT, June 09, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Jorge Salazar, Interventional Radiologist with Vascular Access Centers in Memphis, Tennessee was successful in using a new device to remove thrombus from a patient's leg.

The patient presented with rest pain and claudication. Dr. Salazar performed an angiogram and decided to intervene and treat the symptoms. During the procedure, a blood clot (emboli) was identified in the patient's leg that obstructed distal blood flow. Dr. Salazar used the Aspire device to aspirate the thrombus then was able to perform athrectomy and angioplasty to fix the patients symptoms.

"We pride ourselves on providing best-in-class patient care that is convenient for the patients," said Dr. Salazar. "In the office setting, it is important to have devices that can help us treat unexpected events in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. The ASPIRE technology allowed us to provide the highest level of care to meet this patient's clinical need."

The ASPIRE Mechanical Thrombectomy System allows clinicians to instantly start, stop, increase, decrease, pulse, or maintain thrombectomy force during a procedure. ASPIRE Mechanical Aspirators also aspirate up to 280ml, almost 10 times more than basic syringe-based systems, without multiple messy and time-consuming catheter connections, disconnections, and re-connections to improve speed and performance.

"Peripheral Vascular procedures in the outpatient office is a growing phenomenon," said Chris Livingstone, VP of sales and marketing for Control Medical Technology. "The Aspire device can help physicians take care of their patients efficiently in the office setting. The device is effective in removing clot, requires little to no set up and is cost-effective."

The patented ASPIRE Mechanical Thrombectomy System is available by itself or in kits that include an over-the-wire or rapid exchange thrombectomy catheter. ASPIRE Mechanical Aspirators may also be connected to any thrombectomy catheter the clinician chooses.

Control Medical Technology designs, develops, and markets innovative thrombus management, biopsy, and aspiration devices, including the patented ASPIRE Mechanical Aspirator, ASPIRE RX-LP6 Mechanical Thrombectomy System, and ASPIRE MAX Thrombectomy System.
