TORONTO, ON, June 09, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Maralynne A. Monteith, Senior Tax Lawyer and Co-Chair of the Tax Practice at WeirFoulds LLP, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in tax law.
Ms. Monteith brings 35 years of professional experience to her role as a partner of WeirFoulds LLP. Throughout her career, she has set herself apart through her proficiency in income and commodity taxation, mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Monteith teaches "Tax Law for Lawyers," and was one of the original teachers of the course. She also teaches within the firm and with legal education providers in Canada.
Looking back, Ms. Monteith attributes her success to having close to five years of experience as the senior in-house tax counsel at one of the largest Canadian financial institutions, as well as asking the right questions and learning how to listen and communicate effectively. She became involved in her profession because of her law school income tax moot court experience. She enjoys the problem-solving aspect of tax law.
Ms. Monteith received a JD from the University of Toronto, a bachelor's degree in commerce from Queen's University, where she graduated with honors, and she also completed an executive development program of Northwestern University. In addition to her degree, she completed the In-depth Tax Course through the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, and earned an ADR certificate. She was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with The Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
