HARTFORD, CT, June 10, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Healthy Fiesta: A FREE Health Wellness and Empowerment initiative whose goal is to make health fun and engaging for all will take place on Saturday, June 20th from 12noon until 4pm at the Asylum Hill Boys and Girls Club located at 170 Sigourney Street, Hartford, CT. The event will feature free screenings and testing inclusive of National Kidney Foundation's Keep Healthy Program which will offer a full service clinic approach on site for early evaluation of kidney disease. There will also be a free lunch workshop entitled Power over Diabetes given by the American Diabetes Association. Faith Care will provide full Cholesterol and Glucose Screenings. Additional screenings from Health Partners will include: Prostrate, Dental, Podiatry, STDs and more!
Visit the healthy eating area and get a healthy cooking demonstration by Cooking Matters, and get recipes and Healthy Snacks from Whole Foods. The event will feature other empowerment exhibitors and local vendors. You can get moving with Zumba and other fitness demonstrations and enjoy the sounds of a live healthy Fiesta DJ. The kid's area will include face painting, contests, games and give-a-ways. A free lunch will be given to all those participating in a health screening.
The Healthy Fiesta 2015 event is an initiative under the John Stewart Foundation. In 1999 after losing her son, John Stewart on the basketball court during a regional High School Championship game to sudden cardiac arrest. Ms. Stewart started The John Stewart Foundation and has played a major role in providing free testing and screenings across the United States. "My goal is to provide services for free while changing the mindset on health. At Healthy Fiesta everyone becomes a health ambassador, taking the information back to their homes, community and schools. From the ages of 5 to 75 years we have something for everyone. June is also Men's Health Month, this is a great time to do this event!
