Ms. Douglass Van Royen graduated from the University of Vermont with her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Continuing her education, she received a Marketing Certificate from NY University's Hospitality Program; Negotiations and Strategy Certificate from Harvard Business School and is a Certified Marketing Executive with HSMAI.

Maryellen Douglass Van Royen has spent over two decades as a Hospitality Professional, keeping her skills honed and staying on the cutting edge of new trends and innovations in the field. Having spent most of her career as a Hospitality Professional and Director of Sales and Marketing, Maryellen has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in her field. As a Director of Sales and Marketing, Ms. Douglass Van Royen was responsible for Sales and Marketing, Advertising, Revenue Management, Social Media, E-Commerce, and Public/Community Relations. Maryellen has spent the past 20 years honing her skills and sharing her vast knowledge and keen insights by mentoring hundreds of employees at many of the most prestigious New York and Philadelphia destinations: The New York Plaza Hotel, The New York Palace Hotel, New York Loews Regency, American Express, The Rittenhouse and the Hyatt Regency at Penn's Landing, Pennsylvania. Ms. Maryellen Douglass Van Royen has been honored with several awards for excellence in her field. She has received an award from the International Women's Leadership Association's for Outstanding Leadership and Contribution to the Family, Career and Community Award; VIP Woman of the Year in Hospitality from The National Association of Professional Women and Professional of the Year in Hospitality and Tourism from the American Registry of Outstanding Professionals. Maryellen Douglass Van Royen remains active as an adjunct faculty member at Temple University. Ms. Douglass Van Royen is a member or affiliate with the International Women's Leadership Association, the National Association of Professional Women, Business Travel Association of Philadelphia. She also volunteers her time with local organizations including Lombard Senior Citizens Center; Little Smiles and remains as an Elder in the Presbytery of the USA for her work with Union Church of Bay Ridge.

Amazingly, Ms. Douglass Van Royen finds time to enjoy travel, reading, yoga, spending time with her family and friends, and helping her community. She is the proud daughter of the late Paul B. Douglass, Sr. and Nancy Douglass of Milton, MA.
