The biggest of these failings was that too many have become distracted by trying to attract more big businesses to Wales, when more time and effort should be given to supporting and developing the country's small businesses. Jones pointed out that in the current climate patience is not a virtue that is highly regarded in business and that many in government are too preoccupied with short term gain, hence their efforts to bring larger, more established businesses to Wales. However in order to achieve a self-sufficient and healthy economy in the long term, Janet Jones has made an appeal for policy makers to turn their attention to the hard work of the country's small business community. Whilst the results of the MOO study are ultimately positive the firm are concerned that without a conscious effort from government and policy makers to show small business owners and entrepreneurs that they are supported, many of these innovative business ideas will never come to fruition, and Wales could be at risk of falling within the innovation rankings.
