With many years of invaluable contributions to the field of law, Patrick Meyers has achieved professional success as chief legal officer for Consumer Capital Partners in Denver, Colorado. With unmatched knowledge in the areas of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, franchising and finance, Mr. Meyers is responsible for Consumer Capital Partners, Smashburger and other operating company legal oversight, as well as investment decisions, financing transactions, tax and other related functions. Mr. Meyers' practice has included securities and franchise compliance, finance transactions, tax, mergers and acquisitions, employment matters, litigation, licensing and distribution, and general corporate law. He has written numerous articles and has taught various continuing legal education courses. Notably, Mr. Meyers served in the U.S. Navy Submarine service from 1978 to 1984.
While pursuing his law degree at the University of California Hastings College of the Law, Mr. Meyers served as a summer clerk and intern for the U.S. Attorney's Office within the Civil and Criminal Divisions, as well as the Department of Justice Antitrust Division in San Francisco. After graduating, he clerked for the Hon. Justice William Erickson of the Colorado Supreme Court, and thereafter was an attorney with Moye Giles in Denver. He focused on franchise, appellate, and transaction law, and was a special assistant attorney general for criminal appeals from 1992 through 1994.
In 1993, Mr. Meyers was elected director for the Quiznos sandwich chain, a then-public company. In 1997, he established the general counsel's office at Quiznos and subsequently became an owner of the company until January 2012. Over the years, Mr. Meyers served as the head of Quiznos legal, finance, administration, information technology and human resource departments. He then became a partner, managing director and the chief legal officer for Consumer Capital Partners. Today, he is an owner of and involved with Consumer Capital Partner's newest venture, Smashburger. He actively serves as a director for Consumer Capital Partners and is a board member for Smashburger, as well as a member of the Consumer Capital Partner and Smashburger audit committees. Additionally, Mr. Meyers serves on the compensation committees of both companies.
A shining example of success within the industry, Mr. Meyers continues to surpass others within the profession due to his extensive experience and education, which includes a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from the University of Colorado at Denver, as well as a JD from the UC Hastings College of the Law, which he earned in 1990. An active member within the field, Mr. Meyers stays current with the industry's many changes through his past or present memberships with the ABA's Franchise Forum and Downtown Denver Partnership Board. Additionally, he has served on the board of advisers for Quest Hospitality Ventures, is a trustee for the University of California at Hastings Foundation, and the advisory board for the Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship. Mr. Meyers was also an H.B. Meek Executive in Residence for the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University and is the director of the Meyers Family Foundation, a position that he shares with his two daughters. In recognition of his many significant accomplishments, Mr. Meyers has recently been inducted into Worldwide Registry. Notably, Mr. Meyers holds an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating with Martindale-Hubbell and was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award in Complex Litigation and won Second Place in the American Judges Association's National Essay Competition in 1990.
