Joye Law Firm Awards Six College Scholarships to South Carolina Students

    CHARLESTON, SC, July 07, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joye Law Firm is proud to announce that six South Carolina seniors have won a $2,000 Joye Law Firm scholarship in the firm's ninth annual scholarship contest. Winners include Shelby Dunbar of Northwoods Academy in North Charleston, SC; Jared Rushton of Hanahan High School in Hanahan, SC; Ashley Pendergist of James Island Charter School in Charleston, SC; Noah Vieira of Socastee High School in Myrtle Beach, SC; Benjamin Grant of Baptist Hill High School in Hollywood, SC; and Abigail Harwell of Clinton High School in Clinton, SC.

"We're very pleased to extend awards to these six students," explains Joye Law Firm's Managing Partner Ken Harrell. "Each is very deserving, and we are sure that they have a bright future ahead of them."

The Joye Law Firm scholarship program, which is in its ninth year, has awarded over $115,000 to college-bound seniors from across South Carolina.

"Our goal has always been to give back to our local communities and to ensure that we recognize and reward the outstanding students," said Harrell.

The contest, which ran from February 1, 2015 through April 1, 2015, selected students based on a thorough review of their completed application, transcripts, community involvement and creative entry, which demonstrated the dangers associated with drunk and distracted driving.

This year's award recipients include:

- Shelby Dunbar, Northwoods Academy, who plans to attend Newberry College to study nursing.

- Jared Rushton, Hanahan High School, who plans to attend Coastal Carolina to study business and golf management.

- Ashley Pendergist, James Island Charter School, who plans to attend Clemson University to study communications.

- Benjamin Grant, Baptist Hill High School, who plans to attend Duke University to study biology/pre-med.

- Abigail Harwell, Clinton High School, who plans to attend Furman University to study English.

- Noah Vieira, Socastee High School, who plans to attend Furman University to study biology/pre-med.

Each year, Joye Law Firm receives scholarship entries from across South Carolina. This year, the firm received a record number of applications and is expecting an even bigger 2016 campaign.

"It was extremely difficult to choose only six students, but it showed us just how intelligent, talented and ambitious our future generation of leaders truly is and how we should expect great things from them," concluded Harrell.
