Blue Canopy Wins Federal DHS Science & Technology Award

    RESTON, VA, July 09, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Blue Canopy Group, LLC., a leading Big Data Analytics and Enterprise IT consultancy and service provider, has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security with the 2015 DHS Science & Technology Under Secretary Award for Outstanding Program in contribution to Law Enforcement -- the highest award for contractors within the Science & Technology (S&T) directorate. Blue Canopy will be honored at an awards ceremony July 23, 2015, in Washington, DC.

Blue Canopy's Big Data Environment (BDE) "APEX" Program at the DHS S&T Directorate received the prestigious contracting honor. The DHS S&T program takes a close strategic look at the nation's security and addresses future challenges, while continuing to support current operational agency needs.

DHS S&T partners with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) to deliver next-generation data storage and analytical capabilities to ICE HSI agents in their investigative work. Blue Canopy was selected to design, build, integrate, test and deploy a Big Data Environment in support of the program. Using lessons learned from previous, successful data analytics roll-outs, Blue Canopy designed the ICE BDE pilot program within three months. Although the initial mission goal was to serve only one client, DHS leadership immediately recognized the much broader potential of the Blue Canopy solution for use in other investigative domains.
