With six years of experience in the environmental services industry, Ms. Gomez has contributed her passion and knowledge with Leighton Contractors Pty Limited for the past two-and-a-half years. A recognized expert in environmental awareness, research and risk assessment, she is presently responsible for environmental management and compliance on a Greenfield LNG construction project in Darwin, NT, Australia. Her role requires erosion and sediment control, water quality monitoring, wildlife management, waste and resource efficiency and hazardous substance management. She attributes her success within the environmental science field so far to her passion and drive to continuously learn.
As someone who is intensely passionate about ecological sustainability, the environment, health and well-being, Ms. Gomez has always wanted to work in a position that allows her to work with people and the environment to achieve the best outcomes for the community and ecological world. On the side, she is an advocate for nutrition and self-improvement, and she empowers others to pursue their goals and dreams. Her diverse range of experiences allows her to adequately communicate with her peers in a dynamic work environment. Through her current position, she coordinates the Incident and Injury (IIF) program, which has a women's mentoring component. Ms. Gomez wishes to expand her career and experience to an international level. She hopes to establish a path that will allow her to utilize all of her strengths and skills, while affording her the time to work on her own development and pursuit of learning. A thoroughly dedicated professional, her ultimate goal is to work for the United Nations Environment Department in order to contribute to the planet and its environment as a leader in the world's most reputable agency.
Following a continuous desire for improvement, Ms. Gomez is currently pursuing a master's degree in climate policy and sustainability at the Curtin University of Technology. She holds a graduate certificate in natural resource management from the University of Western Australia, a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Zoology from James Cook University Queensland, and completed an honors research study in environmental social science through the same university. To sharpen her skills in the field, she maintains affiliation with the Australian Youth Climate Coalition, Women in Resources Inc. and WomenInMining.org.
