Gail Sykes Recognized by Worldwide Branding for Excellence in Business Management

    SOMERSET WEST, SOUTH AFRICA, July 15, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gail Sykes, Chief Executive Officer of Helderberg Hospice, has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence.

Mrs. Sykes has amassed a wealth of professional experience over the course of a career in the health care industry, building on proficiencies in marketing and sales, and she is primarily in charge of working with people and connecting with them on all levels in her current post. She handles the day-to-day operations of the hospice, and helps to ensure that all the necessary services are provided accordingly and that the professional staff and volunteers are given appropriate tasks to follow through on.

Mrs. Sykes has been involved in sales, marketing, finance and farming throughout the course of her career. She attributes her success to her perseverance and ability to communicate, as well as her ability to bring people together.

Mrs. Sykes became involved in her new profession because, when her husband became terminally ill, it was clear to her that the help needed to deal with the illness was not readily available. She approached Helderberg Hospice, where the staff immediately offered help and support to her husband and, in fact, the entire family, enabling them to ultimately accept and come to terms with what is always a very difficult time. She later realized that she needed to find a way to help others in a similar position and so volunteered at Hospice, becoming a permanent member of the staff two and a half years later.

Mrs. Sykes received her DCRR in Diagnostic Radiography from the London School of Radiography, and she has since used her experience to branch out into other related areas, ultimately spending most of her time in marketing, training, communication and farming before changing direction and joining Hospice. She has always been interested in improving the lives of those in the community and is the Chairperson of "The HUB SA Helderberg," a locally based N.P.O. In the coming years, Mrs. Sykes aspires to find a way for the Helderberg Hospice organization to become self-sufficient and financially sustainable, encouraging more involvement and support from the community as well as other donors.

Helderberg Hospice provides skilled and compassionate hospice palliative care to all people living in the Helderberg community who are facing life-threatening illnesses, and also offers specialized health care in patients' homes, as well as specialized palliative care in an in-patient unit as a back-up for short-term interventions.
