BEACHWOOD, OH, July 17, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Maria E. Quinn, AEP, Attorney with The O'Brien Law Firm LLC, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in estate planning.

An AV-Preeminent Attorney, Ms. Quinn is best known for her knowledge in estate planning for individuals and families, although she also provides assistance with business succession planning, charitable gift planning, guardianships, probate, estate and trust administration, and elder law. She has received numerous awards in recognition of her commitment to clients, including the Client Distinction Award, which she received in 2015. Ms. Quinn was also named a Top Rated Lawyer in the Cleveland Area in 2014 and for over ten years Cleveland Magazine Inside Business named her as a Leading Lawyer. She was a 2007 Athena Award Finalist, and in 2012 University Hospital gave her the Diamond Advisory Award.

Highly regarded for her knowledge of the legal system, Ms. Quinn has appeared on television and radio talk shows, in addition to being published or quoted in a variety of publications, including Money Magazine, the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Crain's Business, to name a few. She frequently lends her services to nonprofit organizations, and is especially experienced in helping individuals and institutions choose the appropriate charitable gift-giving techniques. Actively involved in the legal community, Ms. Quinn maintains alignment with the American Bar Association, the Estate Planning Council of Cleveland and currently sits on several boards including The Cleveland Area American Cancer Association.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Quinn worked as a legal secretary while attending Lake Erie College. Upon receiving a Bachelor of Science, with honors in accounting and finance, she went on to law school, where she received a JD from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1979. Admitted to practice in Ohio and the Supreme Court of the United States, Ms. Quinn is also an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) with the Estate Planning Council. She was a Partner for several years at the Cleveland law firm Hahn, Loeser & Parks before she founded Maria E. Quinn Co., L.P.A. in 2004 in Beachwood, Ohio.

Last year, she wanted to do something special with her life's work and decided to make a major change in her law practice when she donated her law practice to a nonprofit to establish a donor advised fund at Rainbow/University Hospital with the goal of endowing a chair for research in finding a cure for those with hemophilia and bleeding disorders known as "Dominic's Endowed Fund for Bleeding Disorders and Hemophilia". Ms. Quinn's 12 year old grandson has hemophilia and she feels that not enough dollars are available for the needed research. Ms. Quinn is now "of counsel" to The O'Brien Law Firm LLC, which purchased the practice from the nonprofit, and a portion of the proceeds from her law practice are added to the fund each year with several fund raising activities planned over the next several years to reach a $1 million goal needed to fund a chair and receive some matching funds. The O'Brien Law Firm provides a wide array of legal services, including asset protection and business planning, elder law and Medicaid services, estate planning services, and trust administration and probate, among other areas of practice. As Ms. Quinn moves forward with her career, and with no intention to fully retire, she intends to continue helping families and clients obtain positive outcomes in all of their estate planning endeavors.
