Andre Asselin Honored for Excellence in Insurance Law

    MONTREAL, QC, July 21, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Andre Asselin, Partner of Miller Thomson LLP, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in insurance litigation.

Mr. Asselin brings 44 years of professional experience to his role as a partner of Miller Thomson LLP. Throughout his career, he has set himself apart through his work in product liability, insurance coverage issues and processes, insurance litigation and general litigation. Each day, he prepares proceedings on behalf of his clients, and represents clients as an insurance lawyer.

Mr. Asselin specializes in professional and product liability claims, as well as those involving municipal or transportation law issues (maritime, aviation and railways). He is one of the most respected insurance lawyers in Quebec. He has acted for his clients in all manners of claims involving property damage, bodily injury or coverage issues. Mr. Asselin sat from June 1996 to May 2008 as a member of AXA Assurances' Board of Directors and of the ethic, regulation and conformity committee of the company.

When asked about influences in his life, Mr. Asselin mentioned his great uncle, who was president of the Quebec Parliament Legislative Committee and a prominent lawyer. Mr. Asselin had considered becoming a forest engineer until he realized he wanted to do something where he could defend and face adverse positions.

Mr. Asselin received an LL.L. from the University of Montreal in 1969, and he is a certified mediator of the Quebec Bar. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with QRIMA as an associate member, as well as the Montreal Chapter of the Quebec Insurance Institute, and the insurance division of the Canadian Bar Association. In recognition of his hard work and dedication, Mr. Asselin has been named a BV Distinguished Attorney by Martindale-Hubbell for more than 30 years. He has also been listed among the Best Lawyers in Canada as a Leading Lawyer in Insurance and Product Liability Law.
