SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, July 25, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Recent claims have suggested that Australian entrepreneurs are struggling to access the funding they need to support their ventures. Sydney-based direct marketing specialists and supporters of entrepreneurship, Alba International review the claims and share what they feel needs to be done to support the small business community.
According to figures from Westpac's Global Entrepreneurship Monitor report, approximately 42% of all would-be start-ups would like to have more than $50,000 in capital available but just over 5% of the angel market said they would be willing to supply more than that. Almost half of the entrepreneurs questioned would like to be more aspirational but the available capital puts limitations on their goals. Rob Ingles of Amgun Holdings has first-hand experience of the situation and talking about the issue he said, "Finding money for new enterprises will always be extremely tough because a vast number of new enterprises never come to anything." In his estimation, only 200 small companies receive sufficient funding each year.

Alba International believes that more has to be done to support those individuals with an entrepreneurial ambition and the firm believes that crowd funding and peer-to-peer lending could provide a breakthrough.
Crowdfunding
Crowdfunding websites raised a staggering $5.1 billion US dollars in 2013 and crowdfunding campaigns are receiving funding on a daily basis. Business crowdfunding has become an incredible tool for both budding and established entrepreneurs looking to acquire the capital needed to launch new products and grow businesses. It is a way for individuals to acquire financing for their business or idea via donations from the public, commonly done through crowdfunding websites.
Advantages of crowdfunding include:
- The creation of a customer base that are already committed to the product
- Interaction with customers, who are also the investors
- Opportunity to receive feedback
- Free network marketing through backers
Peer-to-Peer Lending
Peer-to-Peer lending provides a promising alternative for loans for small businesses that may have been unsuccessful with traditional finance investors. With a lack of funding avenues, many small business turn to family and friends in their social circle for money. Peer-to-Peer lending sites provide the opportunity for entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas and investment needs to an online audience of potential individual or group lenders. It is estimated that up to 5 billion US dollars will be loaned through P2P lending services in the coming years.
Customer acquisition specialists Alba International believe that the lack of funding is putting Australians off from starting businesses. "If something isn't done to support small businesses and those individuals with a start-up dream, the country will lose out on the innovators of the future," said Alba International.
