Houston Dermatologists Offering Double Chin Reduction Shot KYBELLA

KYBELLA, nicknamed the "double chin injection," is now available from the dermatologists at Suzanne Bruce and Associates in Houston and Katy, Texas.

HOUSTON, TX, August 02, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The skin specialists at Suzanne Bruce and Associates (www.sba-skincare.com) are among the first to offer KYBELLA, a breakthrough double chin injection, for patients in Houston and Katy, Texas.

"We are particularly excited to see the FDA approve KYBELLA because we were one of the few research sites in the nation that performed the clinical trials a couple of years ago," Dr. Suzanne Bruce says. "We already know KYBELLA yields fantastic results."

KYBELLA is formulated using deoxycholic acid, a molecule that naturally occurs in the body and that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When it's injected into fat just below the skin's surface, it destroys fat cells. Those cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, and eventually the body naturally flushes them away.

"Options for patients to reduce the fat under their chins traditionally have been very limited," Dr. Bruce says. "Many men and women resorted to liposuction. Now we have simple injections that really work."

Approved earlier this year by the FDA, KYBELLA was tested in more than 20 clinical studies that included more than 1,600 patients who received KYBELLA injections.

Dr. Bruce, one of the leading dermatologists in Houston and the U.S., says the introduction of KYBELLA represents a long-awaited breakthrough in cosmetic dermatology.

She says that "the fat that accumulates below the chin, called submental fat, is difficult to reduce. Diet and exercise aren't very effective for that area, especially if a double chin is caused by hereditary factors or due to aging."

"That's why KYBELLA is a game-changer," Dr. Bruce says. "It's the first and only non-surgical treatment approved by the FDA that permanently reduces submental fat."

Dr. Bruce says she customizes KYBELLA treatments to address each patient's specific needs. A treatment session may include between 20 and 50 injections, which are precisely made after locations are marked on a patient's neck. A more refined chin and neck may be noticeable after 2 to 4 treatments, which each last about 15 to 20 minutes. Sessions are performed at least 30 days apart, and up to 6 treatment sessions may be needed to get the optimal results, Dr. Bruce says.

According to a press release from KYTHERA Biopharmaceuticals, Inc., the company that makes KYBELLA, the most common side effects following treatment include bruising, swelling, numbness, and redness at the injection site. There may also be small areas of firmness in the injection area.
